Mischa Vaughn

Right now I am a fractional storyteller helping companies find their voice, grow their audience, and tell stories that aren't boring. This includes high level strategy, video production/direction, writing, social, web, PR, and more. Think of me like a one-person creative team that can bring on a bunch of talented folks as needed.

I also have a podcast, Brandzilla, where my co-host and I analyze and deconstruct the most interesting campaigns from bold brands.

In the past, I've led content & comms at Felicis, Webflow, and Carta. I helped Pivotal go public and was early at Upworthy and Twitter. I started my career at the TED conferences and also helped run one of the biggest Harry Potter websites in the world when I was 11.

Media recs

  • After Yang - A family copes with the loss of their cyborg. Brilliant film.
  • Red Son - Imagine if Superman landed in the USSR instead of Kansas.
  • Station Eleven, The Glass Hotel & The Sea of Tranquility by Emily St. John Mandel - One of the top five living novelists IMO. Read these in this order and thank me later.
  • Escaping Flatland by Hernrik Karlsson - The best Swedish dad blogger. A philosophical newsletter that I love reading.
  • Short stories — Like short films, people should consume more short stories. Make them part of your regular media diet when you're not doomscrolling. Here are some of my favs: George Saunders, Etgar Keret, Kelly Link, Jorge Luis Borges, Ken Liu, Alice Munro, Ted Chiang.
